How it happened

Brommapojkarna won a derby 6-5 at AIK after leading 5-1, then needing a goal in the 90th minute plus nine more to finish the job.

Nothing separated the sides until the second half. Strand broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 48th minute and Ali levelled in the 55th. Then came the spell that looked decisive: Sever scored in the 59th and 65th minutes, Odefalk added a goal in the 61st and Kurochkin made it 5-1 in the 70th.

AIK came back. Ayari scored in the 73rd minute, Gustafsson in the 81st and 83rd, and the home side trailed 5-4. Hove then equalised at 5-5 in the 90th minute plus seven. Hansen replied two minutes later, in the 90th plus nine, to settle it.

The numbers

The match statistics sit oddly beside the scoreline. AIK had 68% of possession, 24 shots to 13 and 11 corners to none, with 12 shots on target to nine. Yet the estimated expected goals were almost level, 3.24 for AIK and 3.20 for Brommapojkarna, so the visitors turned fewer chances into a lead.

Sever took the best match rating on the pitch, 8.9, for two goals and an assist in 72 minutes. Kurochkin followed on 8.2 with a goal and a key pass, and Odefalk on 8.1 with a goal. In goal, Leo Cavallius made seven saves and had a match rating of 6.9, despite conceding five.

What it means

Brommapojkarna have now beaten AIK for the first time in their 17 meetings. AIK had won 13 of them and drawn four, and none of the last five meetings went to the visitors. This one produced 11 goals against a meeting average of 3.53.

In the table, AIK are ninth on 33 points and Brommapojkarna 11th on 30, a gap of three. Over their last 10 matches Brommapojkarna have taken 1.4 points a game and AIK 1.2, with both sides scoring 18 goals in that spell.
