How it happened

Djurgårdens IF won the Stockholm derby 1-0 at Hammarby, and their goalkeeper was the reason it stayed that way. Jacob Rinne made six saves and earned a match rating of 7.9, the highest on the pitch.

The only goal came in the 45th minute, from Bo Åsulv Hegland. It was the last significant act of the first half, and it left Hammarby chasing the game for the whole second period.

Hammarby had the ball but could not turn it into a goal. Djurgården held on without a red card or a second goal to settle matters, and Rinne dealt with what came his way.

The numbers

Hammarby had 67% of possession to Djurgården's 33%, and led on shots 11 to six and on corners five to two. Each side put four shots on target.

The expected-goals estimate was close: 0.53 for Hammarby and 0.43 for Djurgården. Hammarby were the busier side, but not by a margin that suggests a one-sided contest.

Rinne's rating of 7.9 came with 71 touches, a high count for a goalkeeper and a sign of how much of the match he was involved in. Hegland, who played 75 minutes, was rated 7.8 and created two chances with key passes as well as scoring. Defender Adam Ståhl completed 90 minutes with a rating of 7.7.

What it means

Djurgården are second in Allsvenskan on 44 points from 23 matches, with Hammarby third on 43. The two sides have identical goals-against columns of 21, which suits a match decided by a single goal.

The result also adds to a head-to-head record that has leaned Hammarby's way: in 27 meetings they have won 16, Djurgården three and eight have been drawn. The previous meeting, on 26 April, finished 1-1.
