How it happened

Mateusz Kochalski kept Wieczysta Kraków level for most of the afternoon, and Raków Częstochowa still found a way past him. The visitors won 2-1 after a goalless first half, with both of their goals coming in the last 11 minutes.

Wieczysta took the lead in the 69th minute through Semedo, a goal that came against the run of the shot count. Raków answered ten minutes later. Diaby converted a penalty in the 79th minute to level the score.

He then won it. Diaby struck again in the 88th minute, this time from open play, to complete his brace. No red cards were shown, and Wieczysta had no time left to respond.

The numbers

Raków had 23 shots to Wieczysta's 14, and 13 of them were on target against three from the hosts. Expected goals read 2.85 for the visitors and 1.53 for Wieczysta, so the winners' two goals were close to what their chances deserved.

Kochalski made 11 saves and earned a match rating of 8.4, the highest of the players listed. Without him the margin could have been far wider. Patryk Makuch, who registered an assist and six key passes, had a match rating of 7.7 for Raków. Karol Fila matched that figure for Wieczysta, with 87 touches in 87 minutes.

Possession was close, 53% to Wieczysta and 47% to Raków, and corners split five to four in the hosts' favour. The gap between the sides was in the quality of the shots, not in the share of the ball.

What it means

Going into the game, Raków were 18th with six points from 11 matches, having won two and lost nine. A victory gives them a first win since a sequence of three defeats and a loss in their previous four league games.

Wieczysta were 15th with eight points and had drawn their last league match before this one. Their recent record of two wins, two draws and six defeats in ten leaves little margin, and a late defeat after a lead will sting.

Football is high-variance, but the shot count here was lopsided enough that Raków's comeback did not come from nowhere.
