How it happened

Liaoning Tieren won 4-0 away at Qingdao Hainiu, and the margin extends a home losing run to 10 matches without a point.

G. Mbenza gave the visitors the lead in the seventh minute, and that was the only goal of the first half. Jeffinho doubled the lead in the 57th minute. Ten minutes later Qingdao Hainiu were down to 10 men when Y. Jin was sent off.

The game was already tilting away from the hosts, and the red card ended any hope of a recovery. Ange Kouamé scored in the 85th minute and again in the 90th plus one to complete the scoring.

The numbers

Liaoning Tieren had 20 shots to nine, with seven on target to one. Their expected goals came to 1.74 against 0.39, so the four goals were more than the chances alone suggested, though the gap in quality was clear. Possession was close, at 52% for the visitors and 48% for the hosts.

Jeffinho took the highest match rating on the pitch, 9.3, with one goal, four key passes and 83 touches. Kouamé followed with a match rating of 9.2 for his two goals. Binbin Chen provided an assist and earned a match rating of 7.8.

In the home goal, Pengfei Mu made three saves and had a match rating of 5.7, facing seven shots on target.

What it means

Liaoning Tieren stay 12th with 29 points from 28 matches, eight clear of Qingdao Hainiu in 16th on 21. Their sequence before this game was draw, then three defeats, then a draw; the win breaks that run.

For the hosts, the picture is bleaker: no wins and 10 defeats in their last 10, with five goals scored and 29 conceded in that spell. Liaoning Tieren had also won the previous meeting between the sides, 2-1 in May, so they have now taken both.
