How it happened
CFR 1907 Cluj won 1-0 at FC Argeș Pitești without leading the match in any of the usual measures. The visitors had fewer shots, less of the ball and a lower expected-goals figure, and still took the three points.
The first half finished goalless. The decisive moment came in the 58th minute, when defender Anton Krešić scored for the visitors. Argeș had the rest of the match to respond and could not find an equaliser.
No red cards were shown, so the match stayed at eleven against eleven throughout.
The numbers
Argeș had 20 shots to Cluj's 10, but only two of them were on target against three for the visitors. They also won 57% of possession and seven corners to two. Their expected goals came to an estimated 2.18, against 1.62 for Cluj, so the visitors' chances were far from negligible.
Krešić finished with a match rating of 8, the highest of the three players listed, after 90 minutes and 35 touches. Midfielder Christopher Braun followed on 7.7, with 59 touches and two key passes in 88 minutes. Defender Renato Pantalon scored 7.6 for his 90 minutes. All three of the top-rated players were from Cluj.
What it means
Cluj are eighth in the Superliga with 16 points from 11 matches. A clean sheet is a useful marker for a side that has conceded 19 goals in its last 10 games.
Argeș are 13th with 11 points. They have scored six goals in 11 league matches, and a day on which they created plenty but hit the target twice fits that pattern. The sides drew 1-1 in their previous meeting on 22 May.
