João Pedro made it 3-0 a minute into the second half, but Bournemouth answered quickly. Evanilson scored in the 51st minute to make it 3-1. Chelsea then settled the match in four minutes: Pedro scored again in the 67th and Henderson added his second in the 70th for 5-1.

The numbers
The shot count was level in spirit. Chelsea had 10 shots to Bournemouth's nine, with six on target against four. Possession was split 50-50, and Bournemouth won seven corners to Chelsea's one.
Expected goals favoured the visitors, 1.46 to 1.08. Chelsea scored five from 1.08, so their finishing, not the volume of chances, decided the match.
Pedro scored both his goals from 0.58 expected goals in 72 minutes. Henderson's two came from 0.12 expected goals, and he made two key passes and 78 touches. Rogers, who scored once, took a match rating of 8.2 in 84 minutes, and Pedro finished on 8.7. Emiliano Martínez made three saves and was rated 7.5.
