How it happened

Manuel Vicentini made six saves and Club Atlético Belgrano needed only one goal to beat CA Talleres 1-0 at the Mario Alberto Kempes in Córdoba on 4 October.

The match, which kicked off at 20:00 UTC in the rain, was goalless at half-time. Talleres pressed for an opener through the second half but found Vicentini in their way each time they hit the target.

The decisive moment came in the 86th minute, when Ramiro Hernandes scored for Belgrano. There were no red cards, and Facundo Raul Tello Figueroa refereed the Matchday 11 fixture.

The numbers

Talleres had slightly more of the ball, with 51% possession to 49%, and took 15 shots to Belgrano's 11. The clearer difference was accuracy: Talleres put six shots on target, Belgrano two, and the visitors scored with one of them.

Yet the expected-goals figures were almost identical, 0.74 for Talleres and 0.75 for Belgrano. That suggests the home side's extra shots were not, on the whole, better chances, and that the match was finely balanced rather than one-sided. Corners finished 5-4 to Belgrano.

Vicentini's match rating of 8.6 was the highest on the pitch, built on those six saves across 90 minutes. Defender Lisandro López, also of Belgrano, earned a 7.8 from 73 touches. Hernandes played 30 minutes and was rated 7.5, with the goal, two key passes and an expected-goals figure of 0.25 from 17 touches.
